The person was noticed by a flight crew round 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed to CNN.
“A China Airways crew reported seeing what seemed to be somebody in a jet pack at an approximate altitude of 6,000 ft, about seven miles northwest of Los Angeles Worldwide Airport,” the FAA stated in an announcement.
The FAA stated it alerted native legislation enforcement businesses and are investigating the report.
An American Airways flight was the primary to report a “man in a jetpack” on the aircraft’s’ altitude of three,000 ft above Los Angeles Worldwide Airport on September 1. The plane’s crew stated that the person was roughly 30 yards away from the plane. About 10 minutes later, one other aircraft noticed the person.
The FBI beforehand confirmed that it was investigating that specific incident.
CNN has reached out to the FBI in regards to the ongoing investigation and LAX for remark. There aren’t any extra particulars at the moment.
CNN obtained the audio between air visitors management and American and JetBlue flight crews from the September 1 incident. In line with the communications, air visitors management warned a JetBlue flight to “use warning… particular person on a jetpack reported 300 yards south.”
After the aircraft acknowledged the instruction, the controller concluded with: “Solely in LA.”
