Acclaimed Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo is understood for her summary designs and establishing the strange Commes des Garçons vogue universe. Since founding the not so ready-to-wear model over 50 years in the past, she’s challenged the standard notions of what’s thought-about vogue with collections that tackle conceptual, and infrequently sculptural, types. With a background learning literature and artwork at Keio College in Tokyo, Kawakubo determined to embark on a distinct inventive path. After graduating, she discovered a place in promoting at Asahi Kasei, a Japanese textile firm. In 1967, she ventured into freelance styling, and two years later, established the Commes Des Garçons label with none formal coaching as a clothier.
